The advent of technology has enabled the invention of many gadgets and devices. Rheometer is one of these. Rheometer is a device that finds an extensive use in rheology, a branch of physics that deals with measuring of the flow of fluids. For example, when force is applied to a liquid slurry or suspension it will behave differently with different amount of forces. The rheometer helps us measure it. The examples of such slurries are mud, polymers, blood, etc. Thus in every field of science it has found an application and use.

All parameters and values of these liquids especially the viscosity cannot be measured by a single device then rheometers can be used to know them. Based on their application and use they are categorized into mainly two types. Shear rheometers and extensional rheometers.

The purpose of all these devices may be the same but the application of the way of the external force varies according to the parameters of the fluid to be measured. In the shear or rotational rheometers further categorization is made as the pipe or capillary, rotational cylinder, cone and plate, and linear shear. Each has different uses according to the need of the application but their aim is the same.

The next one is the extensional rheometer. These are of the latest versions. These are segregated according to their requirements and the viscosity range application. Industries need to know the parameters of the liquids to know the proper processes in which the goods are to be manufactured. Hence this device can help in producing better products and the end products will be more perfect bringing in more profits.

Not only industries but also research laboratories use such devices extensively one for the research of new substances and two for the application of the products for increasing the efficiency. Thus this gadget has become a must for the establishments now.
